Thin Film Photovoltaics (TF-PV)

We are investigating the TF-PV material called CZTS, based on abundant elements (Cu, Zn, Sn, S, Se) and using a proprietary low-cost fabrication method based on colloidal inks.

Our present solar-to-electricity conversion efficiency is on a par with best laboratories in the world working on CZTS. We have actively contributed to the European Projects Starcell and Custom-Art.

Our most important contributions have been the particular fabrication method, the tuning of some properties of the active CZTS layer, the modification towards flexible PV modules, and the scale up of the complete photovoltaic device.

Current R&D progress has led to new ink formulations that make the deposition of CZTS absorber compatible with roll-to-roll technologies.
